Pre-event webinar for Energy Week Black Sea 2026: Navigating Romania’s new grid connection framework

Romania is set to enter one of the most consequential phases of power-market reform in recent years, as competitive auctions for grid connection capacity take effect from January 2026. In response to the heightened need for clarity across the sector, Invest In Network, in partnership with Fiodorov and Partners, will host a free webinar on 18 December 2025 as a lead-in to Energy Week Black Sea 2026.

The reform replaces the long-standing “first-come, first-served” approach to grid access with an auction-based allocation model. A transitional framework runs until 31 March 2026 and determines which projects remain under the current regime and which projects must move into the auction process, a distinction that carries direct consequences for developers and investors with active pipelines in Romania.

The session focuses on practical interpretation of the new rules and the transition period, with attention to real commercial effects on project development and financing.

The webinar takes place online on 18 December, 11:00–12:00 CET, participation is free, and registration is available via the sign-up page: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_8I0mF_4jRqKn4a6s32Npyg#/registration.

The agenda features two speakers who cover both legal and commercial angles. Tatiana Fiodorov, Managing Partner at Fiodorov and Partners, reviews the legislative framework, eligibility criteria, required documentation, and the structure of the grid capacity allocation agreement, with emphasis on contractual clauses and obligations that market participants need to address under the new system.

From the developer perspective, Mats Lundin, Director Romania and Vice President Commercial at Emergy, examines how the four auction scenarios can influence project timelines, bankability, and investment decisions, based on extensive international project-development experience.

The webinar targets renewable energy developers, investors, lenders, advisers, and EPC contractors with existing or planned projects in Romania, and it also supports participants who plan to attend Energy Week Black Sea 2026. The organisers expect the discussion to sharpen understanding of the risks and opportunities under the auction model, ahead of the conference on 4–5 February 2026 in Bucharest, where the conversation can continue in person.
